Systemic or local treatment?
Systemic estrogen may be considered for bothersome menopause symptoms such as hot flashes and night sweats. Low-dose local estrogen focuses on symptoms such as dryness and painful intimacy. They have different purposes and prescribing considerations.
Choosing a formulation
Patches, oral products and local preparations should be identified by their exact medicine and route. Review bleeding, medical history and whether endometrial protection is needed. Estradiol is not an on-demand orgasm medication.
